Father Ed Broom gives a talk on the Holy Spirit. He gives several references from Holy Scripture about the Holy Spirit. From the Catechism of the Catholic Church he gives us the attributes, names, and symbols of the Spirit. He explains the relationships in the most blessed Trinity.

His conclusion is that the Blessed Virgin Mary is the key to our relationship with the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. She is the daughter of the Father, Mother of the Son and Mystical Spouse of the Holy Spirit.

Father Broom teaches the importance of love through concrete sacrifices. Blessed Jacinta Marto (of Fatima) showed the depth of her love by sacrificing her life to save sinners.

She gave up her favorite treat - sweet grapes. She gave up her favorite recreational activity - dancing. She gave up her water on hot Portugal days. She wore a rough rope around her waist. She did all of this for the salvation of souls... souls she would never meet in this life.

These souls unknown to her were more important than her pleasures.

All true love is sacrificial. Little Jacinta loved God and wanted what God wants - the salvation of all souls.

In today's Gospel (John 15:9-11, our Lord says: "I have told you this that my joy might be in you, and your joy might be complete"

Everyone desires joy but many never find it....do we look for joy in the wrong places- things of this world, worldly pleasures, even sinful attachments or do we look for it in the right places... In the Lord, in Mary and Joseph and all the Saints...in our prayers and in the reception of the Sacraments.

Father Ed Broom provides an insightful presentation on the Igantian method of prayer. St. Ignatius has provided us with a method that is a valuable tool to deepen our spiritual life. Father covers the three powers of the soul... the memory, the understanding and the will. When the prayer moves from our head (memory and understanding) to our heart (the will), then we have entered into deep prayer.

Saint Jerome says that ignorance of Scripture is ignorance of Christ... how can we love Jesus more intimately, love Him more ardently and follow Him more closely if we don't know who He is? Once we know Him we can ask Him to help us with our burdens and troubles.
